What you will do:

The Research Engineer III is an experienced independent researcher who plans and executes laboratory research. This position applies a comprehensive knowledge of a particular field of specialization to the completion of complex assignments and advances state-of-the-art research in a field of specialization. They work independently and without direction on assigned tasks and projects. This position plans and conducts work requiring independent judgment in the evaluation, selection, and substantial adaptation/modification of standard techniques, procedures and criteria. They devise new approaches to problems encountered using a wide application of complex principles, theories and concepts in the specific field. The Research Engineer III works on complex problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires in-depth evaluation of identifiable factors. Their project results have the ability to impact ACV’s research mission and the results are visible and impactful in the organization. This level or Research Engineer requires sufficient professional experience to assure competence as a fully functional researcher/engineer.

  • Actively and consistently support all efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience.
  • Manage multiple and significant projects which may require the use of sophisticated project planning techniques.
  • Plan, schedule, conduct, or coordinates detailed phases of the work of a major project or in a total project of moderate scope.
  • Make substantial contributions to determining feasibility of goals/objectives. May evaluate proposed or ongoing projects. Interface with client/customer project managers and ACV’s research/engineering management for existing or proposed projects.
  • Create opportunities to enhance technical methodology or content through expansion of existing, or development of new efforts. This may include extending technology into new application areas and contributing or leading major intellectual development activities.
  • Chair sessions at technical meetings.
  • Focus on continuous learning by participating in external seminars, workshops, professional societies and committees.
  • Provide innovative problem-solving approaches to enhance organizational capabilities.
  • Foster peer network to expand technical capabilities and identify new research opportunities.
  • Maintain knowledge of broad strategic objectives and contribute to them.
  • Nurture and maintain relationships with major customers/grantors of external research and development grant funding
  • Identify grant/project extensions and influence customers/grantors to provide funding. May initiate new project concepts and seek funding, developing technical proposals and making presentations to potential customers/grant sponsors.

What you will need:

  • 4 Year / Bachelors Degree - Computer Science or related technical discipline required
  • 4 year(s) Related experience
  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
  • Proven track record of having worked as an integral member of a development team collaborating with engineering, product management and other business units by designing and developing highly commercializable hardware and software products.
