Who we are looking for:
We are seeking a strategic and data-driven Sr. Director, Credit to lead our Credit team. The position is responsible for leading all aspects of credit policy, underwriting and contracting for the company’s auto dealer floorplan lending operations. This role ensures the sound growth of the loan portfolio by maintaining strong credit discipline, optimizing risk-adjusted returns, and ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations and internal risk frameworks. The ideal candidate brings deep credit underwriting policies, portfolio management, leadership experience, and a sharp understanding of consumer and/or commercial lending. The Sr. Director of Credit provides strategic and tactical leadership to the credit team, while collaborating closely with sales, risk, and operations teams to drive sustainable business growth. The Sr Director, Credit will report to the VP, Corporate Controller and Chief Accounting Officer.
What you will do:
Strategy, Leadership and Team Management
- Develop and implement the company’s floorplan credit strategy, aligning risk appetite with business objectives and market conditions.
- Lead and mentor credit managers, underwriters, and analysts to maintain high-quality credit assessments and operational excellence.
- Establish and maintain comprehensive credit policies, underwriting standards, and approval authorities tailored to floorplan lending.
- Partner with sales and relationship managers to structure credit facilities that meet client needs while protecting the institution’s interests.
- Work closely with finance and treasury teams to manage concentration risk and liquidity exposure related to the floorplan portfolio.
- Contribute credit insight to new product development, pricing strategies, and dealer incentive programs.
Data Analytics and Scorecard Development
- Leverage data analytics and business intelligence tools to enhance credit decision quality and identify early warning signals.
- Design and implement dealer credit scoring models using internal and external data (e.g., dealer performance metrics, payment behavior, DMS feeds, market data).
- Partner with data and technology teams to integrate scoring models and risk dashboards into loan origination and monitoring systems.
- Continuously refine model performance through back-testing and data validation.
Underwriting, Decisioning and Reporting
- Oversee the credit approval process for dealer floorplan facilities, including financial statement analysis and collateral evaluation.
- Ensure consistent and prudent lending decisions in line with internal policies and risk appetite.
- Review dealer credit lines for new and existing relationships, ensuring adequate collateral controls and liquidity support.
- Ensure adherence to all federal and state regulations governing commercial lending and dealer floorplan financing.
- Support periodic internal and external audits, regulatory exams, and credit reviews.
- Maintain comprehensive and accurate documentation of credit approvals, audits, and policy updates.
- Work with Legal and Compliance to maintain compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
Contracting and Documentation Accuracy
- Ensure floorplan contracts and security interest documents are executed accurately, compliant with legal and UCC requirements, and properly perfected according to applicable law.
- Establish quality control measures to verify enforceability of security interests, including contract completeness, correct UCC filings, and PMSI notices.
- Collaborate with Legal and Compliance to maintain necessary standards and required documentation and to mitigate operational risk.
- Conduct periodic audits to confirm enforceability of security interests, complete documentation, and adherence to internal controls.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Accounting, or related field (MBA preferred).
- 12+ years of progressive experience in commercial or floorplan credit, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of automotive or equipment floorplan financing, lending regulations, and UCC requirements.
- Proven track record of managing accurate contract execution and documentation compliance.
- Exceptional analytical, organizational, and leadership skills.
- Proficiency in credit management systems and financial analysis software.

Compensation: $175,000.00 - $220,000.00 annually. Please note that final compensation will be determined based upon the applicant's relevant experience, skillset, location, business needs, market demands, and other factors as permitted by law.
